A moment of connection at Peaceful Place
We’ve been visiting Peaceful Place every week for about 5 years. It’s a special place for people with early onset dementia and full of familiar faces who’ve become part of our musical family.
Peaceful Place’s CEO, Charlotte Curran, explains:
“Peaceful Place supports people living with dementia, both those diagnosed at working age and those diagnosed later in retirement. We provide a vibrant, group-based activities service where up to 34 people each day enjoy a wide range of meaningful activities, including sport, music, arts and community outings.”
For us at T.I.M.E, it’s an honour to be part of that vibrancy. Every session is different, shaped by the people in the room, their memories, their moods, their stories. And Charlotte sees the impact of our sessions every week:
“TIME is one of the most valued and anticipated activities at Peaceful Place. Their team brings incredible energy, enthusiasm and expertise, creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels able to participate, regardless of the stage of their dementia. They understand the complexities of engaging people with varying cognitive abilities and adapt every session so that each individual can contribute and experience success.”
During a recent session we witnessed a beautiful moment between a husband and wife singing Blue Suede Shoes. With her gentle encouragement you can see his confidence grow. When they finish, the couple are full of smiles. Proud, connected and present.
Charlotte explains it beautifully:
“Through music, singing, dance and the power of musical memory, TIME has a unique ability to bring the whole group together. Members who may be quiet or withdrawn often become animated, smiling, singing and connecting with others. The atmosphere they create is one of joy, friendship and belonging.”
These are the moments we treasure. They’re small on the surface, but enormous in impact. They remind us why we do what we do, and why partnerships like ours with Peaceful Place matter so deeply.
Charlotte sums it up with warmth and clarity:
“The sessions are so popular with our members that we are delighted to welcome TIME twice every week. Their ability to help people living with dementia reconnect with memories, build friendships and simply enjoy the moment makes them an invaluable part of our programme.”
We couldn’t ask for kinder words or a more meaningful collaboration.
And as long as people keep singing, smiling and finding themselves in the music, we’ll keep showing up with instruments in hand, ready for whatever beautiful moments unfold next.
